Lance Lynn to Miss 4-8 Weeks

April 4—All-Star Lance Lynn left Saturday’s game against the Diamondbacks with right knee discomfort, after pitching to Corbin Carroll in the 4th in Scottsdale. Lynn was on the IL from August 29 to September 11 last year with inflammation of the same knee. Lynn will undergo a short surgery tomorrow to repair a slightly torn tendon. He will miss at least four weeks, and possibly as many as eight weeks for recovery.

April 3—The White Sox have acquired Blue Jays catcher Reese McGuire (27), in exchange for catcher Zack Collins. McGuire will back up Yasmani Grandal. Tony La Russa has stated that he plans to give Grandal a couple of days away from the catcher position each week, putting him in the lineup as DH.

Pollock for Kimbrel

April 1—The White Sox have acquired veteran outfielder AJ Pollock from the Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for reliever Craig Kimbrel—a deal that will disappoint no one in Chicago! Pollock debuted with the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2012, where he remained for seven seasons. He signed with the Dodgers as a free agent prior to the start of the 2019 season. Last season with the Dodgers, Pollock went 114-for-384, batting .297/.355/.536 with 69 RBI, 53 RS, 9 SB and 21 HR in 117 G. We’ll take it!

White Sox Sign Josh Harrison

March 15—The Chicago White Sox have signed veteran free agent, and two-time All-Star second baseman Josh Harrison to a one-year, $5.5 million contract ($4MM in 2022, $5.5MM option for 2023 with a $1.5MM buyout). He debuted with the Pirates in 2011, and subsequently played for the Tigers, the Phillies, and the Nationals. He was traded to the Athletics last season after the All-Star break, playing 48 games for the As and 90 games for the Nationals on the 2021 season. Last season (combined) Harrison went 141-for-505, batting .279/.341/.400 with 60 RBI, 58 RS, 9 SB and 8 HR in 138 G.

March 14—The Chicago White Sox have signed veteran free agent, right-hander Joe Kelly to a two-year, $17 million contract ($7MM in 2022, $9MM in 2023, $9.5MM option for 2024 with $1MM buyout). Kelly was drafted by the Cardinals in 2009, making his major league debut in 2012. He was traded to the Red Sox in 2014 and signed by the Dodgers as a free agent after the 2018 season. Last season he posted a record of 2-0, with an ERA of 2.86 in 44.0 IP (15 BB, 50 SO). Kelly is coming off of a nerve injury sustained at the end of last season.
