2022 Opening Day Roster/Injuries

In addition to Garrett Crochet LHP, who is out for the season, and Lance Lynn RHP, who is out for 4-8 weeks, the White Sox will start the season with these players on the 10-Day or 15-Day Injured List:

  • Yoán Moncada INF – right oblique strain, day-to-day
  • Yermín Mercedes OF – left hamate fracture, expected back early to mid May
  • Ryan Burr RHP – right shoulder strain, day-to-day
  • Joe Kelly RHP – right biceps nerve injury, day-to-day

These gents will pick up the slack:

  • Jake Berger INF – recalled from Charlotte
  • Matt Foster RHP – recalled from Charlotte
  • Tanner Banks LHP – contract selected from Charlotte
  • Kyle Crick RHP – contract selected from Charlotte

Finally, Tim “No Regrets” Anderson will miss the first two games, serving a suspension for making contact with umpire Tim Timmons during a hullabaloo with the Tigers last September 27th.

March 14—The Chicago White Sox have signed veteran free agent, right-hander Joe Kelly to a two-year, $17 million contract ($7MM in 2022, $9MM in 2023, $9.5MM option for 2024 with $1MM buyout). Kelly was drafted by the Cardinals in 2009, making his major league debut in 2012. He was traded to the Red Sox in 2014 and signed by the Dodgers as a free agent after the 2018 season. Last season he posted a record of 2-0, with an ERA of 2.86 in 44.0 IP (15 BB, 50 SO). Kelly is coming off of a nerve injury sustained at the end of last season.
